Global EO data for global vegetation monitoring
PROBA-V, ESA’s miniature satellite, assists us in monitoring and predicting the evolution of our planet’s vegetation by monitoring our planet at spatial resolutions of 1 km, 300 m, and even 100 m.
PROBA-V was designed and built by a Belgian consortium as the successor of the SPOT4/5-VEGETATION missions which have been observing the Earth’s vegetation since 1998 without one single day of interruption. Launched in May 2013 PROBA-V continues this valuable time series.
Using a constellation of 3 cameras, PROBA-V covers the entire Earth every two days and provides useful reflectance measurements for:
- climate impact assessment
- surface water resource management
- agricultural monitoring
- food security purposes
