Bart Beusen graduated as a bio-engineer at KU Leuven, Belgium, in 2000. After starting his career as a software engineer at Siemens, he returned to university in 2003 to obtain a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence. Since 2004 he has been working for VITO on a variety of topics, including satellite image processing, sustainable mobility and demand response in smart grids.
I explore new technologies in the field artificial intelligence, while at the same time I use those technologies to help build a sustainable world
Bart has a strong focus on renewable energy and sustainability in general. He processes large amounts of data, distilling the right information for end users to understand intuitively. Statistics, machine learning, modelling and optimization techniques are his weapons of choice. Python, JAVA or matlab his favorite tools. Over the last two years, he’s mostly been diving into deep learning techniques for object detection.
