With an MSc. in physics, Jurgen has spent most of his professional career in remote sensing, first in photogrammetry, then using airborne LiDAR. During three years, he was involved in industrial vision projects.
Our work? It’s showing that remote sensing really lets you see the bigger picture.
At VITO, he has worked on stratospheric unmanned aerial vehicles as alternative for satellites, then as a program manager for remote sensing technology. During that time he was also active as a (co) chair of ISPRS working groups, participating in many international scientific events. To broaden his perspective, he led the team that implemented a project and financial management system for VITO.
Today, Jurgen focuses on Terrascope, the Belgian Earth Observation Data Space, and especially on increasing its impact in Belgium and beyond.
