R&D Professional
Samuel Oswald is a geospatial data scientist who joined the VITO Remote Sensing Agricultural Applications team in 2019. He has an interest in data science, machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, programming, remote sensing and GIS.
By integrating a versatile AI workflow into MAPEO we are speeding up the development of new plant trait products!
Sam is part of the team behind MAPEO Phenotyping, a drone-based high-throughput phenotyping solution for research and breeding. He is also working on the ScaleAgData project, which aims to provide informative data products to farmers, governments, and other policy actors in agriculture. He primarily works on the implementation and improvement of advanced machine learning algorithms, enabling users to leverage optimized machine learning architectures to detect several interesting features, whether through advanced object detection and field segmentation, or the leverage of diverse timeseries datasets to estimate plant productivity over a growing season. Additionally, he is interested in co-operating on new research ideas and helping researchers apply machine learning.
