Ils Reusen received a MSc in Physics (Astronomy) and a PhD in Physics (Nuclear spectroscopy) from KU Leuven before beginning her postdoctorate research in image processing at the Electrical Engineering department of KU Leuven.

Ils began working at VITO Remote Sensing in 2000, first as a researcher, then as a project manager and coordinator. Her focus was initially on airborne hyperspectral remote sensing and APEX but is now also oriented towards the use of Sentinel-2, PROBA-V and Sentinel-3 satellites for monitoring our water resources (FP7 INFORM, H2020 DCS4COP, Copernicus Global Land Service).
