In 2011, Daniel Iordache attained his PhD in Electrical Engineering after completing a thesis on Remote Sensing and the use of Sparse Unmixing. He was honoured as ‘Romanian Student of the Year’ and as an exemplary graduate of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship programme.
We live on a wonderful planet. It is our duty to keep it healthy and pass it on to future generations. Remote Sensing is our tool for better understanding the earth without harming it.
Daniel joined VITO as post-doctorate researcher in 2012, focusing on the development of algorithms used in precision farming for orchards. Nowadays, he is a member of the Applications team; his research supports a large range of projects with connections to data processing, image processing, environmental pollution (plastics and oil spills), forest diseases, draught occurrence, satellite data simulations and sparse regression.
In the last years, Daniel has served as a reviewer for more than 20 international journals and various international conferences. In 2015 Daniel was also a trainer for EUFAR’s SWAMP course.
